About THORSwap (THOR)
What Is THORSwap Finance (THOR)?
THOR is the native token of THORSwap Finance, a one-click noncustodial cross-chain DEX aggregator for swapping tokens. With ThorSwap, there’s no need to wrap tokens, which eliminates custodial risk. ThorSwap uses THORChain's cross-chain liquidity protocol to facilitate trading across THORChain-supported Layer 1 blockchains, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, Avalanche and Cosmos, as well as over 4,800 ERC-20 tokens.
Some of its other services include:
THORSwap Earn — a vault for you to park your crypto assets and generate passive income from them without the risk of impermanent loss.
THORSynths — a suite of synthetic assets that are a collateralized representation of crypto assets backed by THORChain liquidity pools.
THORSafe — a noncustodial multi-sig wallet managed by two or more members for transactions that require higher security, such as running a THORChain node or a liquidity pool.
THORNode — an interface with wallet support for THORChain Node Operators to effectively manage their nodes.
THORChad DAO — a community-driven organization through which creative projects are launched via a launchpad, the THORChad Platform.
THOR Price
THOR launched at $3.05 (its all-time high) on Nov 6, 2021. Its price consistently declined for months until reaching a support level of about $0.03 in Feb 2022. From Mar 2022, THOR saw an uptrend that peaked on Mar 27 at $1.63, and then it fell to approximately $0.80 in mid-April.
In late April and early May, THOR’s price reached a double top at around $1.15 before dropping drastically over the rest of the year, a plunge precipitated by the LUNA Terra crash in mid-May. By Jun 19, THOR was trading at $0.22.
From mid-December, THOR’s value rose slightly to $0.35 on Dec 21, and through February 2022, THOR traded from $0.25–$0.35. In March, however, THOR’s price fell below $0.20.
What Is THOR Used For?
THOR is an ERC-20 token that’s designed explicitly to incentivize trading, which results in more rewards for THORChain liquidity providers. It can be used in many ways on THORSwap, such as for governance, access to DApps and funding THORSwap's growth.
You can also use THOR to stake vTHOR, which gives you benefits such as trading fee discounts, fee-sharing rewards that split 75% of all trading fees among THOR stakers and auto-compounding staking rewards. When you stake in vTHOR, you also earn rights to governance in the THORChad DAO to vote for projects to be launched.
THOR Tokenomics
THOR has a maximum supply of 500,000,000 tokens, which are being distributed over four years (starting from 2021). The emission percentage is periodically reduced to achieve a less inflationary emissions model, and currently costs 4 $THOR/block (as of Jan 10, 2023).
The tokens are allocated as follows:
50% — Community incentives (such as staking, LP rewards, trading fee discounts, trade mining rewards and more)
15% — Core contributors
10% — Private investors
10% — Public
10% — Treasury
5% — Airdrop
